Seoirse returns here to his musical beginnings to cook up an eclectic taste of the wide ranging and abundant offerings in his forthcoming boxed set – “Another Side of Seoirse”. The songs are linked in their diversity by their beauty and their place among Seoirse’s musical roots.
Known in and around Donegal as a singer of Gaelic songs and as the front man of acoustic bands including Donegal Folk-Weave and Dúlamán, Seoirse here adds to his string of six studio albums a solo collection of internationally sourced songs – many captured in just one take and all performed without overdubbing or effects – rendered simply through the pure acoustic essentials of voice and nylon-stringed guitar.
Seoirse confidently explores the essence of songs that shaped his lifelong musical development from the 1950s to the present. In his unique and rich reworking of these songs we are transported across time and borders by the magic of both memory and his fluid style which seamlessly and coherently interweaves classical, Gaelic and American folk elements.
